Thank you for the music Kathryn Kendall and Welcome David Necklen!

We are sorry that our July concert had to be cancelled. We didn’t get the chance to perform our ‘old favourites’ and showcase all of our hard work, which has been superbly directed by outgoing Musical Director, Kathryn Kendall. We are very grateful to Kathryn for all of her hard work, dedication, patience and sense of humour over the last 4 years and for keeping everyone singing during the pandemic. We have loved working with Kathryn and we are extremely happy that she will continue to play a key role in the choir from September.

We would like to say a very warm welcome to our new Musical Director David Necklen. David starts with us in September and we very much look forward to singing with him. He will be assisted by Kathryn Kendall and we look forward to performing with them at our next concert which is planned for 17th December 2022.

Anyone interested in singing with us will be very welcome to join us in September. No experience necessary and there are no auditions – just come along and give it a try. Get in touch if you would like further information.

Looking forward to 2022

Thankyou to everyone who came to our concert on 11th December – we hope you all felt as festive as we did! We really enjoyed performing together again, and congratulations to our quiz winners!

Choir rehearsals will start back on Monday 10th January at St Johns Church, starting to work towards our next concert “Songs from the Stage”. If you fancy starting a New Year by trying something new, come along and join us.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

10 Christmas pieces you might not have heard before

You might have started Christmas preparations earlier than usual this year – more time at home and uncertainty about the next couple of months may mean Christmas shopping is well underway. Surely that seems like a good excuse to start the Christmas music early this year too?

Classic FM listed their top pieces of Christmas music, and you can find 10 of the lesser known below. While you’re baking a Christmas cake, try having a listen to one that you haven’t heard before.

  1. Troika – Prokofiev
  2. Little Tree – Whitacre
  3. A Ceremony of Carols – Britten
  4. Christmas Oratorio – Bach
  5. Symphony of Carols – Hely-Hutchinson
  6. L’Enfance du Christ – Berlioz
  7. Christmas Waltz – Tchaikovsky
  8. A Christmas Greeting – Elgar
  9. Oratorio de Noel – Saint-Saens
  10. The Messiah – Handel
