Who’s Who

Musical Director – David Necklen

David joins Mickleover Singers as Musical Director from September 2022.

David retired from teaching recently after more than forty years in the classroom.  He has conducted many local choirs across Leicestershire and was founder of The Charnwood Choral Society and Viva la Musica – a select, chamber group.  He presently conducts the Leicester Choir Cantamici who perform across Leicestershire.  David has been singing since the age of seven and now performs with Choros Amici, choir of the year 2000, and Sine Nomine International Touring Choir, singing in Germany later in 2022.  He can be seen deputizing for various choral groups, both on the podium and as a tenor. He is a member of ABCD, CAMRA and supports Leicester Tigers Rugby Club.

Associate Conductor – Kathryn Kendall

Kathryn Kendall joined the choir in Spring 2017 as accompanist and became Musical Director in September 2018 until July 2022. She trained as a music teacher and has accompanied choirs, soloists, musical productions and bridal processions!

She enjoys playing a wide repertoire of music, and has a particular weakness for early twentieth century composers.

Chairman – Jeff Hurd

Jeff joined Mickleover Singers 13 years ago and is also involved with Musical Theatre groups in Burton, where he has performed in a number of roles. Jeff enjoys performing to our regular audiences but one of his highlights was singing the Ukranian Bell Carol at a wedding in Mickleover, while the couple were signing the register.

Jeff’s other interests include motor cycling, cycling and gardening.

He is particularly keen to increase our male membership and would urge any men reading this to give singing a try!
